Koinonia

It's such a fun little word to say.

Koinonia is Greek for "Community"

I've had such a hard time trying to figure out what to write about the Koinonia Retreat I went on in the beginning of November. There really are no words to describe my experience at this retreat... it was THAT incredible. I also think it's really hard to put into words what it feels like to be so very near to God like I did on that retreat.

There is one thing on the retreat that I had forgotten about until yesterday.

I had forgotten about the letter.
We all had the chance to write ourselves a letter that would eventually be mailed back to us.
Well. I got mine in the mail the other day and I was so excited because I had completely forgotten about this letter and I quickly tore it open to see what I had written.
..And I think it perfectly sums up what Koinonia was for me and what I truly learned.

Rachel Elizabeth.
You made it through your first Koinonia Retreat! :) Be thankful for this beautiful opportunity to grow closer to the loving heart of Jesus with the wonderful people at the UNL Newman Center. It may still be overwhelming and you may not have met or connected with as many people as you wanted.. but just remember that this is just the beginning of this crazy awesome adventure. Getting to know everyone will take time and you just have to be patient and trust that the Lord will provide and help you in His time.
In fact, an important lesson to take away from Koinonia is that although we all have busy lives that are all scheduled and planned and specific, we are always on God's time. Everything revolves around God and His plan for you and everyone else. Never forget this. Focus on God and His time and His plan.

Something else to remember is that God loves you. Even when all seems lost and you feel sad and so utterly alone, God loves you. You. All of you. He wants you to accept Him into your heart fully, holding nothing back. All of the things that hold you back from Him, THROW THEM AWAY. Get rid of that trash and rest your eyes on God and do not shift that focus. God is enough and He is all you need. Focus on Him and call for His strength to remain firm in Him.
Be courageous. He loves you."
